New Covenant Community Church

— NEWCOV YOUTH

NewCov student ministries

— FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

REAL FAITH real
COMMUNITY.

The relationship students build with Jesus in these years shapes how they’ll follow Him for the rest of their lives. NewCov Youth is two ministries under one roof – JHM for junior high (7th–8th) and HSM for high school (9th–12th) – both centered on the Word of God, mission, and friendships that outlast the awkward years.

01

BELONG

We believe every student deserves a place where they are known, valued, and loved. No matter your story or where you are in your faith, there is a place for you here. You don’t have to believe before you belong.

02

BELIEVE

We want every student to encounter Jesus and develop an authentic relationship with Him. Through worship, biblical teaching, and meaningful conversations, students are encouraged to discover what they believe and why they believe it. Our desire is for students to make their faith their own.

03

BECOME

Following Jesus changes the way we live. We want to help students become who God has called them to be by growing in their faith, serving others, and living out the Gospel. Our goal is to develop lifelong disciples who follow Jesus beyond youth ministry.

— STUDENTS

EXPLORE OUR JHM programs.

From Sunday morning services to mid-week hangouts, JHM is the perfect place for junior high students to play wild games, build real friendships, and figure out what faith is all about.

TUESDAY NIGHTS

6:30-8:30PM | SMC

At our Junior High gathering, students will engage in four things: Recreation, Worship through music, Bible teaching, and community with other students in Connect Groups.

Grab your Bible, notebook, and a pen and join us Tuesday nights as we grow closer to one another, and to our God!

SUNDAY MORNINGS

10:00AM | SMC

Sunday mornings at NewCov Youth are focused on discipleship and growing deeper in our relationship with Jesus. Except the last Sunday of the month, our Junior High and High School students come together for a combined time of worship, biblical teaching, and community.

We want students to not only know what the Bible says, but learn how to follow Jesus in their everyday lives. Sunday mornings are a space for students to ask questions, build meaningful relationships, and be challenged in their faith.

Our goal is to help every student take their next step toward becoming a lifelong disciple of Jesus.

Our goal for Sunday AM Junior High service is to provide a space where students can learn more about what it means to follow Jesus by worshipping through song and verse-by-verse teaching.

The experience will look and feel similar to our main adult gathering so that when they attend the main gathering, it feels familiar to them. Grab your Bible, notebook, pen and a friend as we learn together what it means to follow Jesus!

— HIGH SCHOOL

EXPLORE OUR HSM programs.

From Sunday mornings to Wednesday nights, HSM is a space designed for high schoolers to step away from the noise, have honest conversations about life, and grow deeper in their relationship with God.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

6:30-8:30PM | SMC

At our High School gathering, students will engage in three things:

• Worship through music
• Bible teaching
• Community with other students in Connect Groups

Grab your Bible, notebook, and a pen and join us Wednesday nights as we grow closer to one another, and to our God!

SUNDAY MORNINGS

10:00AM | SMC

AFTER WORSHIP

Sunday mornings at NewCov Youth are focused on discipleship and growing deeper in our relationship with Jesus. Except the last Sunday of the month, our Junior High and High School students come together for a combined time of worship, biblical teaching, and community.

We want students to not only know what the Bible says, but learn how to follow Jesus in their everyday lives. Sunday mornings are a space for students to ask questions, build meaningful relationships, and be challenged in their faith.

Our goal is to help every student take their next step toward becoming a lifelong disciple of Jesus.

We believe there is a great benefit to teens being in the main church gathering on Sunday mornings. So, sit together as a family, or sit with us on the right side of the Sanctuary every Sunday!

We’ll be in the main service for worship and announcements. After announcements, we’ll walk together to the SMC for a combined service with JHM.

In the last Sunday of every month, we’ll stay in the whole service for communion.

MEET THE JHM team.

Branden Moroney

Junior High & Young Adults Pastor

What’s up! My name is Branden Moroney, and I’m blessed to be a part of the NewCov Youth & Young Adults Team! I’m married to my amazing and beautiful wife, Emily, and being married to her has been one of the greatest blessings in my life. In my free time, I love golfing, hanging out at coffee shops with Emily and fly fishing with friends!

I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies and earned a Master’s degree in Christian Leadership. I have a growing passion for students because youth ministry is where the Lord truly found and transformed me, and I love getting to invest in both the present and future generation of the Church.

MEET THE HSM team.

Malik Black

High School Pastor

Hey NewCov! My name is Malik Black and I am blessed and honored to be on the NewCov youth team. I was born in Indiana and moved to Southern California when I was 10 years old. I have always served in youth ministry since graduating high school because I loved helping students find Jesus for themselves! In 2023 I graduated with a Masters in Leadership Theology at Life Pacific University.
I have a beautiful wife Breann and two amazing sons Stephen and Wesley who are my world. Basketball holds a special place in my heart and spending time with family doing anything! I always felt a call on my life for full-time ministry and am excited to start the journey here at NewCov!

SERVING both JHM & HSM.

I’ve been married to my husband, Dan, for 31 years, and we’ve been part of NewCov for more than 30 of those years. We love serving together in various youth programs and being part of the NewCov community. We’re blessed with four kids—two serving in the Air Force and two working in healthcare—and we couldn’t be prouder of them. One is married and another will be married soon! In our free time, we enjoy golfing, skiing, and traveling to explore new places and make memories together.
